May 5, 2011: Thursday After Midnight

Find myself courtyard @ Bourbon St. apt. with Billytsd, Mike & Brian...the courtyard is lovely at night, it doesn't 'feel' like 1244am.  And I am still under the weather.  Put in a more than full day - saw the three lovely aging female rockers - Michelle Shocked, Lucinda Williams, Cindy Lauper.  Cindy did NOT disappoint.   She sang the blues, it was beautiful.  And her band was awesome!  And Charlie Musselweit played with her!  And she had a partial brass band, and a woman playing a flute who jammed with her.  Michelle is a storyteller, and such a quirky performer, but so gripping.  Couldn't take my eyes off her, and loved her guitar player.  Her guitar broke, and she was sans one for a few songs.  She took her guitar players' until hers reappeared.   Bill & I grabbed a cab back.  I showered, rode the bike to the Chateau.  Tommy had arrived...  we sat and laughed, and ate chocolate rice krispy treats until everyone returned.    Betty presented Alice with a book.  It was really cool.  Jan did a really great painting for the cover.  A really special project.

I spent about 30 minutes in the medical tent for some Tylenol to bring the fever down.  Laying horizontal in Congo Square for about 30 minutes in the blazing sun with no band even playing...didn't help.  The Med tent has big fans, and a good place to regroup.   And they have water & gatorade.
