Tuesday, May 3, 2011: Moving Day

Still in Nola. Moved from the Barracks Street studio, to the historical, elegant Bourbon Street apartment - the difference between the two vast. The apt. is a sprawling 2 bedroom, 2 bath, front parlor, formal dining room, full kitchen, sun porch extravaganza in a well-maintained historical building on lower Bourbon Street 1/2 block from Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop. The studio was a grimy, murphy bedded one room wonder, although it did open onto a sweet courtyard. Don't get me wrong, the studio was adorable. It just wasn't really 'clean', musty, stuffy, huge cockroach smashed on the floor [ killed by me], with a film on top of all surfaces. Doubt they own bleach, and that's what that place needed, a good swipe of bleach on all walls/countertops/surfaces. The sheets were NOT fresh, and the pillows/blankets weren't either. Yuck. The artwork in this place is fabulous...oh my god, and the decor in general really great and really 'new orleans'.

The gang is all heading to the Treme set, to work as free extras in a festival scene...UGH! no way, why go to a film set on a day off in New Orleans, forget it...like being at work. Am luxuriating in my private bedroom, with a gorgeous iron lamp overhead, and sweet white curtained paned doors that open onto sun porch. LOVE IT here, want to stay all summer, and go to art school. Hate L.A., got to get out. Hate Hate Hate it, and hate hate hate the business!

Have been LOVING taking photos, although they are all on my phone, so quality wise a total waste of time. Feel like I am going to invest in a proper camera, and start working in a higher quality field. Love shooting, love the still frame. Wonder why I have wasted all these years not having a proper camera. And since I am here in this fabulous city to photograph, what am I doing?

I just uploaded some pics...so many more to come, stay tuned. Mike Zito, he played Rock n' Bowl Sunday night. Liked him, doesn't hurt that he is "Elvis" H O T! and it never hurts that his guitar player was 'shredding it'...!! There was a Vince Vaughn wannabe in the crowd, his only charm being that he looked like him, and he was like this crazy 'lovin the music' fool, who kept jumping up front, then grabbed a bunch of girls - me being one, and ushered us in front of him, saying "I want all the girls up front". Greg, the drunk cousin from Canada, was swept up in the 'push the girls forward' thrust, as he was about the same height. I teased him about his 'boyfriend'... I have not been to Rock N' Bowl since the first time I ever went to Fest, and it was the old Rock 'N Bowl upstairs...not a fan of the old, but LOVE the new...GREAT venue!
