Jazzfest 1st weekend 2011 inventory:
727 Barracks Street, New Orleans, LA.
Okay, so I broke ranks this year, and strayed off campus - campus being Chateau Orleans, for those of you needing to know the obvious, and am in a random craigslist posted studio in the lower french quarter on Barracks Street. Not a bad deal, $275.00 for 3 nights. Cheaper than most. Its a cute little groundfloor studio, with a private courtyard. Sheila handed me the keys, then let me know that the girl upstairs was 'in town' with friends, and made a little bit of noise, but quieted down quickly. I tried to go to sleep around 1030p exhausted, slept til 1130p when her and her group of banshees came home from the first round of bars. Noise ensued til about 1230A then disappeared. I fell asleep. At 130A a larger group of bar refugees pounded their feet up the staircase, and then proceeded to have a rager until 4am. I wanted to kill someone. The noise of them above me on a floor with no insulation was torture, not to mention deadly to my migraine. Finally we all went to sleep @ 4am, although some nut job up there was up @ 8am, clumping around in their clogs. Woke up at 10am proud. Somehow in my frenzy to get out of L.A. I left with no ambien or migraine medicine. Ugh!
